Aquarium Maintenance: What a Service Visit Should Cover

A good aquarium maintenance visit does more than change water. Here is what a service call should include so you know what you are paying for.
Water changes and testing
A visit should include a partial water change and a test of the parameters that matter for your tank, not just a glance at the glass.
Ask what gets measured. Ammonia, nitrate, and salinity (for marine tanks) tell you whether the system is actually healthy.
Cleaning beyond the glass
Algae scraping, gravel vacuuming, and filter maintenance are the parts that keep problems from building up between visits.
Filter media care matters; over-cleaning a filter can crash a cycled tank. A good provider explains their routine.
Observations and notes
A worthwhile visit ends with notes on livestock health and anything to watch. That record helps you catch issues early.
Ask how the provider flags problems so you are not surprised by a sick fish after they leave.
