Building a Realistic Test-Prep Timeline — cover image

A good test-prep plan works backward from the test date. Here is how to build one that does not fall apart by March.

Start from the test date

Count back from the real test date to set the start, not the other way around. Most students need more weeks than they think.

Leave a buffer for school stress and a full practice test or two under real conditions.

Build in practice tests

Full practice tests reveal where the score actually is. Schedule them early enough to change the plan.

Reviewing a missed test is where most of the score growth happens, so leave time for it.

Plan for the dip

Progress is rarely linear. Build slack for the weeks where scores plateau before climbing.

Adjust with the tutor instead of panic-adding sessions. A revised plan beats a burned-out student.
